“If you worry about what might be, and wonder what might have been, you will ignore what is.”
Very often people don’t realize how important it is to live in the present. To be more precise, we understand the value of the present but we regret the past and worry too much about the future, completely forgetting that we lose the precious time.
It is essential to comprehend that it is impossible to change the past and it is useless to be anxious about the future.
“Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin!” Mother Teresa
Moreover, the worst part of living in the past or the future deprives from our personal power. We concentrate on the non-existent instead of living and enjoying now. If you’re not living now, you’re giving up your life. You’re surrendering your power to create. If there are changes you’d like to make in life, it’s best to do it now. If you’re living in the past, you can’t do anything about it, it’s gone.
“The first recipe is: avoid too lengthy meditation on the past.” Andre Maurois
If you’re worrying about the future, you’re living somewhere that doesn’t exist. It hasn’t happened yet.
“Do we not all spend the greater part of our lives under the shadow of an event that has not yet come to pass?” Maurice Maeterlinck
If you want to change your life, the only place you can do it is in the present. But first you need to accept life as it is.
The essential aspiration in the life of every person is happiness. We all are trying to catch this “blue bird”. What is it though? Is it the perception of the mysteries of nature and the universe? What is the truth? The idea of happiness can be found in many forms and individual perceptions. It is simple, as it is about pleasure, joy, love, satisfaction and meaning of every moment.
The key ingredient of happiness is the ability to live in the present. Forget, forgive, and let go of anything that is holding you back. Things can always be turned around. We only live today, and it exists for fleeting moments. So, let’s not waste it, but make it memorable.
Past and future are inseparable parts of our lives. And they are always present. However, we need to treat them wisely. We are allowed to think about past only in two cases. First, if it is a pleasant memory, which inspires or motivates us. Second, if we learn a lesson, analyzing mistakes in order to avoid them in the present and future. Never regret; mistakes are inevitable, but that’s how we gain experience and shape our personality.
We also shouldn’t forget about future. Future is about our plans, aspirations and dreams. The better and happier we live today the more promising our future becomes. Tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. The difference is that we should not be worried or distressed about future.
Remember: any problem can be solved, any situation can be improved, and anything can be fixed. But lost time can never be found again!
Today is a gift that is why it is called “present”
